A blog of my journey from Land's End to John o' Groats in July 2010.
I currently have two bikes. The most used is my Scott Aspect 55 Mountain Bike. I use this most of all because I enjoy cross country cycling around where I live. There are so many tracks, trails, woods and quiet paths to explore. I used this bike for my record breaking Leeds & Liverpool Canal cycle expedition in 2009. I've made a few alterations from it's original spec. I've added mudguards for a start, upgraded the tyres and tubes to more puncture resistant ones, changed the saddle after the worst saddle sores in history!
My other bike is the one I'll be using for the LEJOG 2010. This is a Specialized Sirrus Sport. A Hybrid bike that combines the comfortable riding position of a mountain bike with the speed and handling of a road bike. As you can see, the handlebars are straight, rather than the traditional drop down type you normally associate with road bikes. This is one of the most comfortable bikes I have ever been on! The saddle is great, especially for a 1000 mile ride!
